Quote:
(St.) MARGARET'S DAY (July 20)-St. Margaret's Day was in honor of St. Margaret, a holy Italian Virgin, martyred in 278. On this day pregnant women used to flock to the church to pray for safe delivery.

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

It is strange what humans will be deceived by. I really do see them following "after the tradition of men" because much of the devotion to these things is generational: passed down through the belief system of the family.

Some generations don't even know why they do some of the traditions, but they do them anyway because it is what they have been taught and what is expected of them to participate in and pass on their children.
